Drivers of lorries over 3.5 tonnes and minibuses with 9 seats or more must obtain a Driver CPC.
New drivers will obtain their Driver CPC by passing a series of initial theoretical and practical qualification tests. This must then be followed by 35 hours of periodic training every five years if they want to keep their Driver CPC after that period.
Bus and coach drivers who hold a relevant vocational licence gained before 10 September 2008, and lorry drivers who obtained their licence before 10 September 2009, do not need to take the initial qualification, but will however be required to complete the periodic training every five years in order to keep their Driver CPC.
Pennine Distribution Limited’s Driver CPC Training Centre is based in Rochdale, Lancashire and serves professional drivers in Northwest England. It is easily accessible from junction 21 of the M62 motorway. The team is led by John Bullock who has over 30 years driving and logistics experience. Pennine Distribution Limited’s team comprises highly experienced and qualified trainers, together with an administrative staff who are fully conversant with the Driver CPC requirements. Courses are run most weekdays, and for groups of company drivers can be run from anywhere in the UK at your premises, provided that you have a suitably sized room for the number of delegates.
Pennine Distribution Limited is an approved centre for training professional bus, coach and lorry drivers to qualify for the Driver Certificate of Professional Competency (Driver CPC).
The Driving Standards Agency has implemented EU Directive 2003/59, which requires all professional bus, coach and lorry drivers to hold a Driver CPC in addition to their vocational driving licence.
Driver CPC came into force on 10 September 2008 for bus and coach drivers and on 10 September 2009 for lorry drivers.
